A Note from President Christine Flaherty, CCM
It is an exciting time for CMAA both locally in our Metro New York/New Jersey Chapter and CMAA nationwide. We are continually reminded of both the economic and societal impacts of the design and construction industry and the important role of the construction management professional to spearhead capital delivery excellence. With the economy booming we continue to be challenged by a shortage of trained professional and craft workforce and a general lack of public understanding of all the skills and resources needed to provide capital delivery excellence. The need for knowledge transfer, leadership and career development and education on technology that improves project outcomes makes CMAA an ideal platform for collaboration with both our members and our colleagues in design, construction and the important support service professions.
This year our chapter will be focusing on increasing our professional and career development courses, offering more diverse programs to engage all of our 2,000+ members, supporting our owner and small business members, increasing our 2019 scholarships and collaborating more with our colleagues active in other complementary local professional organizations.
We also have initiated a more transparent and systematic process to engage our amazing volunteers with a variety of expertise. If you are interested in growing professionally through volunteering on a committee, leading an initiative or sharing your expertise with our membership we would love to hear from you. Check out our Volunteer Here link and apply to join our growing ranks of professionals passionate about CMAA and making a difference in capital delivery excellence.
